BE YE HOLY

Memorize : But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy: 1 Peter 1:15&16

Devotional Reading: John 5:1-18

Holiness is the basic requirement for any person or group of persons to be accepted by Him, the almighty God. In contrast to the ugliness of sin, there is beauty and honour in living Holy for God. We currently live in a world that promotes and enjoys living in sin, many are proud to do so. Sin is a deformity, a monstrosity. Sin is repulsive, repellent to the infinitely pure God: that is why He selected leprosy, the most loathsome and horrible of all diseases, to be its emblem. Holiness is the antithesis of sin.

Psalm 29:2; instructs us to “Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness” We are commanded by God to be Holy.

The beauty of holiness is imperceptible to the natural man, and therein differs radically from the beauties of mere nature. The natural man can behold and admire a lovely glen, the softly flowing river, the mountain pines, the rushing waterfall, the beautiful field; but for the excellence of spiritual graces he has no eyes.

The world today may think we are stating it too strongly when we talk about ‘Holiness’. God must remove the scales from the eyes of our heart before we can perceive that holiness is beautiful and it is honour to God.

Holiness, enables us to have close and indescribable fellowship with God. Adam and Eve enjoyed this benefit in the garden of Eden before their fall, God would come down at the cool of the day and have close fellowship with them.

A life of holiness allowed Enoch to walk with God as friends walk together, he was so honoured that God did not allow him to taste death. Hebrews 11:5

Noah lived a pleasing and holy life before God ‘Gen 6:9’ he saved his family during the flood.
Abraham, ‘the father of faith’, lived a holy life and was recognised by God. James 2: 21-26

Lot escaped the destruction that came upon Sodom and Gomorrah because he was a righteous man – 2 Peter 2:7-10

Job was another man that enjoyed the beauty of holiness – Job 1:8; though it brought him trial, he became an icon of righteousness in the world.
John the Baptist lived a life of holiness which made Herod fear him – Mark 6:20

Simeon was also a man that was just and devout – Luke 2:25
Apostle Paul (after his conversion) went all the way to walk upright before God. 1 Thess. 2:10; Acts 23:1
The priest Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth were both righteous before God: Luke 1:5 & 6

Do you know that holiness is attainable today? Some people think it is impossible to live holy in our present day; but I tell you, it is possible. Holiness is not an option, but a necessity if we truly want to see God at the end of our lives. No man will see God without ‘Holiness’ Hebrews 12:14; Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. God is holy and everyone that would see him must be holy, His position on that is NON “NEGOTIABLE” and “UNCHANGEABLE”

There is beauty and honour in holiness, and God wants you to put on that garment of beauty and honour. May the LORD help you take a decision to stand out from the crowd and be holy. Allow God to be honoured in your life by living a holy life, he will honour you with the best of this world and give you your mansion in Heaven at last.

Prayer point: My heavenly father; help me wear your garment of holiness in Jesus name

Key Does: Until you start to live Holy, you cannot experience the Glory of Heaven on earth.
