BREAK THE SILENCE

Memorize : I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred. My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue; Psalm 39:2&3.

Devotional Reading: Psalm 39:1-13

There are times and situations in our lives when we must speak out, call on God and cry out for help. Some people have lost many things and suffered in silence because they did not speak out, this was the situation that David found himself in our devotional of today.
David had been silent. But this silence did not solve his problems. Increasingly, a fire burned within him until he could not contain the intensity. He urgently needed to know God’s perspective on his life, then he broke his silence and cried out “Lord, make me to know my end and the measure of my days” v. 4.

He realised that the things of this world were temporary. We can become obsessed with daily events, but David realised that in God’s sight, all life’s struggles and worries seem unimportant.

These tendencies bothered him. Why did he obsess about the reactions of people and seek power if it all was so temporary? Why did he strive for material things if they didn’t last? He realised he needed to focus on God: “My hope is in thee” v. 7.

The thoughts of his mistakes and God’s judgment weighed heavily on him. He knew that His refining and chastening could be far reaching. He prayed for God’s forgiveness.

His final cry was for God’s help: “Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears” v. 12. David totally depended on God for relief, deliverance, resolution, and fulfillment.

Some of us like David has been silent for too long over our situations and the things we things we are going through, we have allowed the issues around us to multiply and compound just because we have kept silent, we should not forget that a closed mouth is a closed destiny. Until we speak out, often times help doesn’t come, one of the major principles of God is that we must ask before we receive, seek before we find, knock before the door is opened. I pray for someone today that as you call out to God for help, you will receive help in Jesus name, God will send a helper your way today in the mighty name of Jesus.

Sometimes, we struggle for direction. We can be plagued by many types of questions, that’s when we need to cry to God to ask for His peace and instructions. Commit our ways to Him. Seek Him with intensity and He shall direct our paths.

I pray for you today that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, you will be lifted from every valley, you will be elevated above all your enemies, the hands of God will take you to the place of glory in Jesus name. So break the silence, speak out, ask for help and help will find you today in Jesus name. Today is the first day of the month, you must start right, this month will end in praise for you in the name of Jesus. Happy New Month, the LORD will bless this New Month for you in Jesus name.

Prayer point : O LORD, please answer me today even before I call in Jesus name.

Key Dose: Whosoever call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved.
