DEPART FROM SIN

Memorize: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many, and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Hebrews 9:28

Devotional Reading: Hebrews 9:11 – 28

From the time our first parents Adam & Eve fell in the garden of Eden, everyone that is born into this world inherited sin which is referred to as ‘Adamic nature or sin principle’ no one is excluded. We all do things we should not do. Some of these sins are big. Some are small. Some are widely known; some are known only to ourselves and God.

Some commit sin through words, actions, or thoughts. Whichever type of sin it is, in God’s sight, sin is sin. Iniquities of any nature or form pollutes our hearts and minds, and it separates us from God, if unrepented, carries the penalty of death which can lead to eternal damnation in Hell. Ezekiel 18:20a; “The soul that sinneth, it shall die”. This is why the Law provides a way for His people to depart from sin and be free from our Iniquities.

Sin is a reproach, it is a monster; it is repulsive to the infinite great God, sin turns man to become enemy of God, the bible says God is angry with the wicked everyday. God loves the sinner but does not love the sin in them.
Say unto them, As i live, saith the Lord GOD, i have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Ezekiel 33:11

The first step towards departing from sin into freedom is acknowledging our sins.
We cannot be free as long as we refuse to acknowledge what we have done wrong.

As the New Testament emphasises, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

What we need to do is make genuine confession: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” 1 John 1:9

After confession, we must genuinely repent of those sins and ask for forgiveness. Genuine repentance leads to forgiveness which then leads to salvation. Acts 3:19a; Repent therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.

Then call upon the name of the Lord and you shall be saved – Romans 10:13
These principles still apply. If you want to be saved and be free from the bondage of sin and all forms of Iniquities, you must confess your sins and forsake them and be determined not to go back to those sins again, Jesus will forgive you and you will become pure in God’s sight.

Some people engage in insincere repentance, which they do thinking they can bribe God. He knows our hearts and thoughts, be careful how you present yourself on the alter of salvation.

Accept God’s forgiveness and make your life a living sacrifice, Romans 12:1. Committing everything to Him and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and saviour.

I pray that God’s hand of mercy will be stretched towards you today and by grace you will depart from all sins and become free. Today is the day of salvation, tomorrow may be too late. May the LORD help you make a wise decision today by giving your life to Christ if you have not already done so.

Prayer point: O Lord, let your mercy speak for me and by your grace, help me to depart from every bondage of sin and Iniquities in Jesus name.

Key Dose: God is willing to forgive your sins and pardon your Iniquities, if you are willing to confess your sins and depart from them.
