Memorize: Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old; Isaiah 43:18
Devotional Reading: Isaiah 43:10-25
Following on from our devotional message of Friday 4th June titled: “Healing In Forgiveness” some people strive towards, and succeeded in enjoying healing in forgiving others, but have great difficulty in forging themselves of their own past mistakes and failures. You cannot love others more than yourself, if you can forgive others, you must forgive yourself of your past mistakes. An inspirational quote from Steve Maraboli about forgiving yourself of past mistakes says – “The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot and will not move forward. This month is our month of Divine Acceleration, we can only move forward with acceleration, only if we forgive and forget our ugly pasts.
It is often said that no human being is infalible, making mistakes is part of life, the important thing is to learn from those mistakes, make amend and quickly move on. This become most difficult for some people to do, especially if the mistake is against themselves. But sitting in the past will blur the vision of the future. It was once said that ‘if you do not forget the past, you cannot see the future’, this is very true. Not forgiving yourself of your past mistakes or failures is a weight you are tied to that will hold you down from moving forward.
Paul the apostle was a man that made some costly mistakes before accepting Christ into his life, some of those mistakes are humanly difficult to forget because lives were lost as a result of his past failures. But, he realised that for him to press forward, he must forget those things that are behind; he considered them as things of old and was willing to move on to better things in life. Philippians 3:13 & 14; Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark, for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. There is a special peace and joy that we experience which produce good health and possibly long life when we forgive ourselves of our past mistakes.
May the Lord give you the grace and divine ability to forgive yourself of your past mistakes, forget them so that you can move on to better things in life. According to the book of Haggai 2:9; Your latter days will be greater than your former in Jesus name
Prayer point: My helper and my comforter, please give me the grace to forgive and forget my ugly past In Jesus name.
Key Dose: Genuine forgiveness restores lost joy and lost blessings, so forgive yourself!
