FORGIVE YOURSELF Part 1

Memorize: Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old; Isaiah 43:18

Devotional Reading – Isaiah 43:10-25;

Following on from yesterdays devotional message titled: ‘ Forgive’, some people strive towards, and succeed in forgiving others, but have great difficulty in forging themselves of their past mistakes and failures. An inspirational quote from Steve Maraboli about forgiving yourself of past mistakes says :

The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.

Steve Maraboli

It is often said that no human being is infalible, making mistakes is part of life. The important thing is to learn from those mistakes, amend and quickly move on. This becomes most difficult for some people to do, especially if the mistake is against themselves. But sitting in the past will blur the vision of the future. It was once said that ‘if you do not forget the past, you cannot see the future’, this is very true. Not forgiving yourself of your past mistakes or failures is a weight you are tied to that will hold you down from moving forward.

Paul the apostle was a man that made some costly mistakes before accepting Christ into his life, some of those mistakes are humanly difficult to forget because lives were lost as a result of his past failures. But, he realised that for him to press forward, he must forget those things of the past; he considered them as things of old and was willing to move on to better things in life. Philippians 3:13 & 14; Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark, for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

May the Lord give you the grace and divine ability to forgive yourself of past mistakes, forget them so that you can move on to better things in life. According to the book of Haggai 2:9; Your latter days will be greater than your former in the name of Jesus.

Prayer point: My great redeemer, please help me to forgive myself of all my past errors.

Key Dose: Genuine forgiveness restores lost joy and lost blessings, so forgive yourself!
