Memorize: Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the midianites. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour’” Judges 6:11-12.
Devotional Reading: Gideon 6: 11 – 40
Before he was called by God, Gideon was just an average man with no special skills. He was not particularly brave or talented. Like other Israelites, he primarily was concerned about the threats of the Midianites, just trying to hide grain from them.
But everything changed when he responded to God’s call. He was motivated by his love for God and passion for his people’s welfare, empowered by the Holy Spirit, Gideon was transformed into a “mighty man of valour.” The leader of his people that he loved.
Because the Lord was with him, he destroyed the altars of Baal and became a shrewd commander, employing revolutionary strategies to win battles.
Gideon owe his success to God, and because he responded to His call, he listened to God, and completely depended on Him, God proved himself to Gideon as a mighty God.
The only reason why many believers do not experience great manifestation of the power of God in their lives is because they did not fully focuss on God and surrender all to Him. Many trust in their own abilities instead of trusting in God’s ability.
Gideon’s problems occurred when he started focusing on himself and stopped depending on God. When he began to take his successes personally and not giving glory to God.
All of us need to remember these mistakes, and realise that we owe everything to God. All our abilities and resources. Our gifts and talents. Our thoughts and plans, our wealth and possessions, we gained and recieved them all from God, we must return all the glory back to God.
Many people have failed in life and lost their enviable positions just because they took the glory that was meant for God to themselves. None of us has any right to boast, be proud, or take credit for our successes and achievements no matter what we might have accomplished in our lives, whatever rewards or recognition we might have received, we owe them all to God, we couldn’t have accomplished them without the grace of God.
Ultimately, we need to remember that we only are God’s vessels. Stewards of the resources He has given to us.
Like Gideon, you will find maximum impact and fulfilment as you surrender your life to God. When you let Him direct your life, and serve Him faithfully. Greater glory, achievements and victories await you if you honour God in your successes and give Him all the glory. As you continue in this month of August, our month of supernatural triumph, remember to give God all the glory for the battles he has won for you, for those He is currently winning for you and for the victories He will win for you.
You are work in progress in the hands of our mighty God, the more you give Him glory for your successes, the more He will help you to achieve more in life.
I pray that God will give you greater successes and multiple achievements as you return all glory to Him for the things He has done for you.
Prayer point: Father, help me honour you and return all glory to you for all my achievements in life in Jesus name.
Key Dose: The secret to Supernatural triumph is to give Him all the glory.
