Memorize: As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him; Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving Colossians 2:6-7.
Devotional Reading : Colossians 2: 6-23
In life, everyone is a product of the materials they are made of. The durability of a product is a function of the components of that product. The depth in the foundation of a building to a large extent determines the stability of the building especially against storm, severe flood or earth quake.
A competent and experienced structural engineer knows that the higher a building will go, the deeper the foundation. The same with us in relation to our desires and goals in life. The higher you desire to go in life and be successful, the deeper you must go with God.
Those who are rooted in Christ and have gone deeper with him are far more durable, strong and able to face the challenges of life than any other set of people in the world. The terrain of life is rough and can be treacherous, it takes formidable strenght and unusual courage to succeed in the journey and battle of life, this can ONLY be obtained when you are ROOTED in Christ Jesus.
When a person is “rooted and built up” in Christ, they are secure even when persecution and challenges come their way, they have an anchor that hold, steadfast and sure.
Although the pain of hardship is felt and grieved, they see beyond their current circumstances, they look to a God who is strong, loving, and more than able.
Despite the roller-coaster of betrayal by his brothers, and later, by a spiteful woman, Joseph looked to God for protection. He remained rooted in his faith despite and amidst his circumstances because he went deep with God.
As our faith roots deepen, we realise, God alone is steadfast and unchanging. The world we live in and its people are constantly shifting, like shadows. No one can be trusted and relied upon except Christ Jesus.
As we practice gratitude and communion with God, our eyes are opened to His gifts and goodness. This world is temporary.
As the reality of our relationship with God becomes tangible, we trust Him as our shield and fortress.
I ask you today, how deep are you in God? I wish to encourage you to go deeper with Him.
As we orient ourselves and rooted in Him, we are equipped for the challenges of today and prepared for the uncertainties of tomorrow.
May the Lord help us all to be deeply rooted in God through his only begotten son Jesus Christ.
Prayer point: Father, help me go deeper with you and be rooted in you through your son Jesus Christ.
Key Dose: Jesus is the only way, all other ways lead to destruction.
