GOD IS NOT PROUD OR BOASTFUL

Memorize: Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 1 John 4:7

Devotional Reading: 1 John 4:1-21

Love is not and will never be proud. God is not proud. One of the reasons why people become proud is because they think of themselves more highly than they ought to, they think they are better than the other person, there is none that is good, we are saved by Grace. In Matthew 19:16&17; Jesus refused to be called good master, he said “there is none good but one, that is God: (Romans 12:3). God is not only great, there is nothing to compare to His magnificence. There is none beside Him. Pastor Adeboye will say “He is bigger than the biggest, stronger than the strongest and wiser than the wisest”. He is the all powerful God. Which means, if there is any being that should be proud or boastful, it is God.

But God is humble and doesn’t boast. His greatest show of humility was when He came to earth to die for the sins of the world. Scriptures say the Word ‘God’ became flesh and dwelt amongst us (John 1:14). Again, in Philippians 2:5-8, scriptures tell us that God striped Himself of all Godly privileges and glory, He humbled Himself to the death of the cross. The death on the cross was probably the most humiliating of deaths during the time of the Roman empire. Crucifixion was common place, and it was use to execute criminals. But the King of Kings humbled Himself to die on the cross.

Why did He do this? Because He is love. Love never wants to show off or blow His trumpet or boast about who He is. Love stays grounded and approachable, He says, “suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God” (Luke 18:16). God is not proud. He is humble. Its expedient that we his children are like God our father in all our dealings, dont fake love, just make it a lifestyle and God will be glorified in your life in Jesus name.

I pray for you today that where your love for your brother or sister has gone cold or died, the Holy Spirit will revive it today in Jesus name.

Prayerpoint: O LORD, please send revival of love into my heart that i may love others as i love you.

Key Dose: If you can’t love your fellow brother or sister who you can see, you cannot love God who you do not see.
