Memorize: Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John; Luke 1:13
Devotional Reading: Luke 1;13-25
Some people have become cynical toward Christ because of unanswered prayers. They’ve been disappointed, and their disappointment has grown into bitterness. Some have stopped going to church and become isolated.
Many biblical heroes grappled with unanswered prayer, Abraham wanting a son; Moses longing to lead Israel out of Egypt; Paul desiring freedom from the thorn in his flesh; even Jesus asking for the cup of suffering to pass over him.
God did answer their prayers, just not as they expected. Prayer isn’t a matter of getting our wishes fulfilled on earth, but of God drawing us into His will and making all things work out for our good.
The angel Gabriel told aged Zacharias, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard.” What prayer? Years before, Zacharias and Elizabeth had pleaded earnestly for a child. They had grown into old age thinking God hadn’t answered their prayers.
Unknown to them, every part of their petition had been heard and answered by the Almighty, our God cannot fail.
“You may not think God cares about your problems because you have been praying for some time and the answer had not come; but He does. He has heard your prayers and answered; you may not have seen the physical manifestation, but God has not forgotten you, he cares for you more than you could imagine. Even now, He is working on your behalf and He will not fail you.
Don’t worry. God always answer the sincere prayers of His faithful people, though it be at His time, in His way, and for His glory.
Whatever you are going through right now, don’t give up and don’t stop praying, God hears and answers prayers, He will hear and answer your prayers in Jesus name.
Prayer point: O LORD, I need you every hour, have mercy on me in Jesus name.
Key Dose: God can do all things, one thing He cannot do, is fail!
