Memorize : Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word” (Psalm 119:114).
Devotional Reading: Psalm 119:113-120
Our memorize of today’s Devotional is a great inspiration and reassurance that God is a hiding place and shield of protection to those who trust and take their refuge in Him. Mr Stillman Martins, a well-known Baptist evangelist, was invited to preach at a church on a Sunday morning when his wife became suddenly ill. Evangelist Martins seriously considered cancelling his speaking assignment to stay by his wife. But just then, their young son spoke up and said, “Father, don’t you think that if God wants you to preach today, He will take care of mother while you are away?” That afternoon, Mrs. Martins, who could not accompany her husband to his speaking engagement due to illness, became strong and showed signs of recovery, God took care of her.
She was inspired by her son’s words and began to write the popular hymn: “God will take care of you”.
The problem with our world today is lack of faith in God, many people trust the arm of flesh than they would trust God, the words of man carries more weight than the word of God, this is one of the major reasons why most people in our world today fail to experience God’s supernatural in their lives. “Be not deceived, God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap – Galatians 6:7”. Many people have sown the sead of unbelief and lack of faith which has prevented them from enjoying the great supernatural provisions of God.
The world system is evil, there is wickedness everywhere, but the word of God abides forever and His truth must surely prevail.
His Word gives the assurance of His ever-abiding presence in times of need. Although nobody is above trials and temptation, it does not matter how you are afflicted or tempted. What matters is how you handle it. This is what determines whether you will be celebrated or not. In periods of crisis, do not allow doubt, unbelief or fear to affect your faith. You may be depressed, miserable or troubled on every side.
Comfort yourself with the word of God and claim His promises that can never fail. The Psalmist said: “I hate vain thoughts; but thy law do I love”. There may be thoughts to seek help from man or elsewhere. But you must delight in the law of God. You must not seek help from Egypt for there is no enduring solution there, make God your hiding place, seek help from Him, He will take care of you. Resolve today to hold onto the promises of God. Don’t forget the wordings of the song writer Civilla D. Martins, “Be not dismayed whatever betides, God, will take care of you…”
I pray for you today as you step into a new week, the everlasting arms of God will wrap around you and your family to help, protect and enable you succeed in this new week, you will accomplish your purposes in life and fulfil your destiny in Jesus name. Happy New week.
Prayer point: O Rock of ages, be my hiding place and protection forever.
Key Dose: I Prophesy upon these bones of glory, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD and live.
