Memorize : For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV
Devotional Reading: John 3:1-16.
The scripture above illustrates God’s love in action, He gave, not just something, but everything, the best that He had, His only begotten son Jesus Christ. In these times many of us are so consumed with the need for receiving, that we pay little attention to our own part to give and share with others. God gave His most precious and only son because He loved and care for us. Giving is an expression of true love which is the totality of the divine nature of God.
God’s action was in response to our need. In giving, God put us first. So, the question remains, when you ask God for some things: for increase, relevance, physical and spiritual blessings…. What are you planning to give back? You are not expected to just be a taker, you should be a giver.
As children of the Most High, giving should be a natural part of our lives. If you say you love Him, shouldn’t you be eager to give, not only your resources but your time, effort, warmth; kindness talents etc? Giving is the proof of your love, and by this shall all men know that you are His disciple. (John 13:35) God demonstrated His love towards us and all of mankind by giving. Therefore we cannot claim to love Him or anyone else if we hold back our treasures.
Whatever you have, give it, don’t hold back especially in this special season of sharing and giving. Amazingly giving is one of the tests of true love and this applies even in our relationship with God.
During this period of Christmas, extend your hand of love to someone in your neighbourhood, in your church, in your employment; don’t just sit, take and be expecting others to give, you too can be a giver, everyone has something to give. May the LORD make you a giver of love and good wishes in Jesus name, remember that it better to give than to receive.
Prayer point: O LORD, make me a blessing and not just a receiver in Jesus name.
Prayer point: O LORD, make me a blessing and not just a receiver in Jesus name.
Key Does: The extent of your love is revealed by the extent of your giving. You are blessed to be a blessing, so bless someone today.
