Topic: HE IS COMING SOON

Devotional Reading: Rev. 22:1-12

Memorize: Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be; Revelation 22:12.

We curreny live in a world that is fast paced, our airways, highways, sea ways, rails, foot paths, are busier than ever before, everyone is rushing to places. There is not enough time in the day to get the important things done, everyone feels chased by time. Most people don’t have time for morning prayers; daily devotions have become a thing of the past for many, those that still find time to do it, struggle with it, life has become rush rush where everything must be done quickly.

This spirit has gently and quietly creeped into the church, our service times have become lesser, some have completely removed, bible study from their services, service times are now 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes; so that our church members will not complain and we can have the rest of the time to rush to work or other personal engagements on Sunday. No more honouring the “Sabbath and keeping it Holy”, God’s commandment in Exodus 20:8-11; Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God; in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, not thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates. For on the sixth day the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested on the seventh day; wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. This is the word of God and his commandment which has not changed.

Some argue for the comfort of their conscience that this commandment is for the old testament time, the time of Moses, but now, Grace has come and replaced it; this is false comfort. Remember the book of Hebrews 13:8; Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever. The same with the word of God, it does not change with time. Few years ago in London, United Kingdom, I still remember vividly, that on Sundays, our roads were quieter, many high street shops were closed, most businesses were not opened, the buses ran Sunday services, there was a sense of peaceful rest around us. People didn’t rush out of church on Sundays, they took time to enjoy the presence of God, and when they left church, they go home to rest.

The church I grew up in like few other churches take honouring the Sabbath day very seriously, we gave ourselves and the whole sabbath day to the LORD in service, we had a joyful memory which many of us still keep till today.

Luke 19:13; And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

May the LORD help everyone of us to occupy for him until he comes, He is coming very soon, and he is coming with his reward according to our work. I pray that Christ will find you faithful when he comes.

Prayer point: O Lord, please let your mercy prevail for me and make me worthy of your good reward when you come.

Key Dose: Both good and evil work’s will be rewarded on judgement day, so choose to do good.
