Memorize : Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed; thou has guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation. Exodus. 15:13
Devotional Reading: Matthew 5:1-12;
Memorize: “Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
Purity is the nature of God and all those who will worship Him, must worship Him with in spirit and in truth with a pure heart.
To some, purity is an archaic concept for the older generation, not something they want to think about. They want the freedom to do what they desire and gives them pleasure.
But purity is an important Biblical concept and a central issue for believers. In fact, purity has far-reaching implications for our lives.
The prayers of many people have been hindered because their hearts were not pure. Some have missed great opportunities in life due to the filthy state of their hearts. For anyone to receive from God, such person must have a pure heart. Purity is a major prerequisite of God to release His blessings. Psalm 24:3-5; “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who shall stand in his holly place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity; nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation”.
Being pure changes the way we see life. As Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” Matthew 5:8. The pure in heart sees God’s purpose in creation and look at the world the way He wants them to see it. They develop His discernment and insights.
However, those who are not pure look at the world without purpose, direction, or the standards developed by our Creator. They think they have a license to do what they want, feeling that there are no consequences. The impurity and deception in our world today is sickening, you almost don’t know who to trust anymore, even in churches, the sense of purity and loyalty is hard to come by. But the Bible continually focuses on our attitudes and perspectives. You must have a pure heart.
This purity reflects the attitude of our hearts and minds, as we allow God refine us, correct us, purge us of sin, and help us to shine with greater intensity.
Our world is full of filthiness and impurity; deception and dishonesty have evaded our world, many people in politics have turned to liars with hearts of impurity, many relationships are formed on deception, some employees cheat on their time sheets, some husbands constantly lie to their wives, while some wives do the same to their husbands, even in the church, it is difficult to trust some workers, our cities are turning to Sodom and Gomorah where God may not find 50 righteous people. Genesis 18:26-32, it is by the mercy of God that our cities are not consumed.
Remember the Bible’s call to have a pure heart. Righteousness exalt a nation, sin brings reproach. Purity in the heart brings progress and attract blessings, let God purify you, blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Ask God to search your heart, pray for genuine repentance and forgiveness from all act of wickedness that you have committed as a result of the filthiness and impurity of your heart, some people have injured and wounded others as a result of their impure hearts, you must repent and ask God to forgive you.
May the LORD give you a pure heart today in Jesus name.
Prayer point: O LORD my father, please give me a pure heart today in the name of Jesus.
Key Dose: Remember that only those with pure hearts will see God.
