LET THE PAST GO

MEMORIZE: For I know the thoughts I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” Jeremiah 29:11

Devotional Reading: Jeremiah 29:1-11

Sometimes, we find ourselves in places and conditions and we can’t explain how we got there. Some people are victims of poor background. Some are victims of rape when they were very young and innocent; some are victims of broken relationships where they had invested so much, some financial depression etc. But nothing just happens. Whatever happens was caused by some forces known or unknown, you must let the past go.

God sent Jonah to a city and he decided to go elsewhere. He later was cast into the whale’s belly prepared to swallow him. This happened because he went the wrong direction. This process, injected something trans-generational from him. “Matt.12:40 For as Jonah was three days and nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Jesus made some similarities with Jonah. The significance is that God had already prepared Jonah so that Jesus could use the scenario to explain his resurrection process. What if Jonah had gone to Nineveh, the whale may have been there still. How come the whale was still there after going in the wrong way?

Your mistakes, errors, past experiences, wrong associations and situations you find yourself were sometimes part of God’s plan for your life. It was a mistake that still ended up in his plans. Jonah went the wrong direction but it was part of God’s plan to draw a lesson from it. Those mistakes of yours are experiences needed in life’s resume to bring you into your rest and make you a better person. So wake up from your past, let go of it, wipe away your tears from your mistakes. Someone molested you so many years ago, at the sight or mention of the name that looks like it, unforgiveness wells out. But the person has moved on, married and you are still seeing all men that way. Someone cheated on you before or after marriage and you are thinking of ending the relationship, out of a murky and dirty mine field comes a pure and fine gold. What you need, is patience and confidence in God, trust Him because He makes all things beautiful in his time.

My encouragement to you today is that, you let go of all your past mistakes because God has better plans for you in the future. Jer. 29:11 says “For I know the thoughts I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”

Many people are blocking the glory of their future from manifesting by not letting go of the memory of their past mistakes and errors.

I pray for you that as from today, you will not remember your ugly past anymore with bitterness in Jesus name. God will give you the required grace to let go of all your past mistakes, errors, abuse etc so that the beautiful plans of God for you in future can fully emerge in your life and you can be a better person in Jesus name.

Prayer point: O LORD, help me forget my past mistakes and ugly experiences so that i can see and enjoy the glory of my future in Jesus name.

Key Dose: Like Apostle Paul, forget the past, strive and look forward to a better future.
