Memorize: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2: 8″
Devotional Reading: Ephesians 2:1-8
The subject of grace is a function of love, without it, our lives has no meaning. Grace is “unmerited favor” produced by “unconditional love of God” First, what is the meaning of “unmerited.” It means you do not qualify for it or merit it”
So what is it that you receive that is unmerited? According to the definition of grace, you receive God’s love, which commands his “favor.” which you do not deserve or work for but is given to you.
Grace then is getting something nice instead of the bad thing you deserve. When you receive grace you are given a precious gift. So how does God show grace to us? God shows grace to us through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. When He was on the cross, Jesus took all the punishment that we deserve and placed it on Himself. The just, for the unjust. On the cross, Jesus gave us the privilege of having a relationship with God, something that we cannot earn by ourselves nor do we deserve. God loves His children so much that He shows them unmerrited favour and unconditional love instead of punishment that we deserve for disobeying God.
The grace of God is the most beautiful and powerful thing we will ever encounter in life, but it is also the most difficult concept for us to wrap our minds around. Grace pushes back against our understanding of what is fair and what people deserve. But the message of grace is one that the entire world needs to hear and understand. Grace is love that seeks you out when you have nothing to give in return.
Grace is love coming at you in spite of your shortcomings and imperfection. Grace is being loved when you hate and are unlovable….Grace is God reaching downward to a people who are constantly pushing back against Him, who are in rebellion against Him. Scripture tells us that all have sinned and the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life – Rom. 6:23. But in His loving-kindness and mercy, God sent His Son , Jesus Christ, to die for us and take upon himself the punishment that we deserve. Romans 4:24-25 “But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead. Who was delievered for our offences and was raised again for our justification.”
Paul writes in Romans 5:8, “God commendeth his love towards us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” The marvellous grace of God did not come at a time when we had everything together, all of our ducks lined up in a row. No, grace comes to us when we are broken, empty and can offer nothing in return. “Grace is most needed and best understood in the midst of sin, suffering, and brokenness.” We come to God with nothing in our hands to offer but our brokenness and sin, and He gladly takes it and gives to us new life and made us son’s and daughter’s.
I pray that the marvellous grace of God will work in your life in Jesus name.
Prayer point: Father; by your marvellous grace, let me experience all round solution this month in Jesus name.
Key Dose: Without the grace of God, there would be no forgiveness of sin, today, embrace God’s Marvellous Grace while it is available.
