OBEDIENCE ATTRACTS BLESSINGS

Devotional Reading 2 Samuel 15:1-22

Memory Verse: Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams; 2 Samuel 15:22.

The story of king Saul is one that we must not easily forget. Saul began his reign with enthusiasm, he was favoured by God and annointed. In 1 Samuel 10; after Saul was annointed as captain of God’s inheritance, the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied in the company of prophets. Vs 11; And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, what is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?

However, Saul grew wings and became wise in his own eyes, his first public disobedience was at Gilgal, Samuel had given him instruction to wait for him until he arrived to make sacrifices unto God, before Israel go to battle with the Philistines. Saul became impatient and offered the sacrifices himself, contrary to instructions. God was displeased. He was then given another instruction to attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them, he was given specific instruction that nothing should be spared. Saul went and was partially obedient. God was again displeased, but this time, God had enough, God rejected Saul as king and appointed another man.

Every effort by Samuel to plead for Saul was rejected by God. Saul lost the blessings of obedience, his reign was going to be established forever which would have extended to generations after him, but he lost it due to disobedience. God rejected him completely. I pray for you today in the mighty name of Jesus, you will not commit error that will make God abandon you,

Many generations are suffering today because of disobedience of their patents/grandparents, or generations before them. This is a stern warning to all of us in this generation, we must learn and ensure we obey God implicitly and obey those that have rule over us, most especially our spiritual and earthly parents. Because the disobedience of today can become a roadblock tomorrow, may that never be your portion in Jesus name.

Prayer point: O LORD, please give me a heart of obedience in Jesus name.

Key Dose: Obedience attracts blessings, be obedient!
