ONLY GOD CAN DO IT

Memorize: “Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man” Psalm 60:11

Devotional Reading: Psalm 60:1-12

In the few years that I have been privileged by grace to live upon the surface of this earth, I can confirm without any doubt the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 127:1; which says – Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it; except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Only God can do it! I have been confronted by situations in life a number of occasions that confirms this.

There are many times that we are confronted by the challenges and difficult situations of life, no matter how hard we try to resolve those situations, we have discovered that only God can do it. No matter how much we try to help ourselves, we cannot but face difficulty at one time or the other. Sometimes, the challenge comes when we think we have done our best to avoid it. We have prayed, planned very well and think that we have well prepared for it, yet we find everything crashing down like pack of cards! Such an experience can be so devastating to the mind. If one is not careful, the tendency is to become either so dejected and surrender totally to defeat or look for a carnal way out and try to help ourselves.

The book of Psalms under consideration records one of such experiences in the life of King David, who feels rejected by God due to the numerous difficult trails that have come his way. As he reflected over this and cried out to God for help, God spoke reassuringly to him. God’s word revealed His promise for His people and dominion over the enemy nations. This brought back faith in the Psalmist and he concluded that only God is to be trusted for victory over the enemy.

When faced with life’s challenges, we must know that we cannot find help from any other. In my years of walking with God, I have learnt not trust in man for anything. I discovered that trust in man is vain and emptiness, I understand that man’s ability is limited and that unless God give man the grace to do something, man by himself can do nothing. Apostle Paul understood this very clearly when he wrote in one of his books – Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ which Strengtheneth me.

Many a times we see the difficulty ahead and know that it is something we cannot handle ourselves. But we forget to turn to Him who can bring help our way. Some will prefer to seek friends advice and most times, they don’t go well. I need you to know that we have no hope unless God is willing to act on our behalf, our strength is nothing except God’s might is added to it. Only with God’s help can the seemingly impossible take place.

As we understand this truth, we give up any attempt to self-manage our situations or life. Let God’s opinions count in all your decisions. Except God’s hand is in that thing, it will never be enough. There is no better help elsewhere but in God and through Him alone, we shall have good success and do valiantly.

I decree concerning you that as you go out today, God’s hand will come upon that which you are doing and cause it to prosper and multiply in Jesus name. You will never have a reason to trust man than God again in Jesus name.

Prayer point: O God of all possibilities, i put my trust in you, please help me, ONLY YOU can do it.

Key Dose: God is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
