Memorize: Therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than rainment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither so they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are you not much better than they? Matthew 6:25&26
Devotional Reading: Matthew 6:25 – 34
As we start a new week, I pray that God will help you overcome fears and worry and enable you find “peace in an anxious world,” in Jesus name. Jesus was teaching the people during his sermon on the mount about the need to see God as our all sufficiency, he made reference to the fowls of the air, how that they do not sow, reap or gather into barns, yet our Father in heaven feed them, cloth them and take care of them to such an extent that they do not lack, he went on further to say, how much more will God take adequate care of us who are more valuable to Him than the Bird.
Many people have developed all forms of sicknesses and deaseses due to anxiety and panic bourne out of worriness. Some will say, “I don’t know what to do, i just can’t stop worrying”. You should know what to do, “Trust God and believe in his word”, He said you should not worry, then you must stop worrying. Many of us know how to trust man who is in power and position of authority, ‘because we can see him’, we believe them when they speak to us; even though most of them fail to honour their words, and let us down; But we struggle to believe God who is dependable, trustworthy and who cannot fail us ‘because we cannot see him’
Jesus asked an all important question in verse 27 of Matthew 6; He said, which of you by worrying can add one year to his life? So why worry when it will not bring solution to the situation, rather it will make the situation become complex and complicated.
On December 28, 1900, The (Toronto) Daily Mail and Empire ran this headline: “Illness Slight, Worry Killed Him.” The story said: “James McIntosh, of 535 Talbot Avenue, Braddock, worried himself to death.
That is the opinion of his attending physician. McIntosh came to Braddock a year ago with his young wife, coming from London, Ontario.
On Christmas Eve, McIntosh was attacked with acute laryngitis, and he feared he would not get well, although Dr. G. E. Blair, who attended to him, told him there was no danger. But he worried continually, and in 48 hours was a corpse. His excessive worry is said to have affected his heart.”
You should know that God is in control, even though it may appear we’ve been defeated. What then shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us, The Apostle Paul. Romans 8:31.
So make this a worry-free weekend. Trust God, He is bigger than your problems, He has solution to every situation and challenges in our lives. The next time the devil brings worriness to you, tell him “Your Father in heaven said you should not worry, because he is bigger than all those problems.
I pray that the Lord will give you the faith and courage to stop worrying even in the face of difficult situations and challenges. May the Lord send you help from zion in Jesus name.
Prayer Point: Precious Jesus, please teach me how to pray and not to faint or worry in Jesus name.
Key Dose: Replace your Fear and Anxiety with Faith and Courage, PRAYER IS THE KEY!
