Devotional Reading: Job 13:1-18
Some believers have indulged themselves in seeking God only on Sundays or during difficult times, such approach in Christian journey is wrong, we are to seek God daily, the first thing you are expected to do when you wake up from your bed early in the morning, is to have communion with God.
It is important to start your day with God, whatever engages your time first thing in the morning has the capacity of dictating the order of your day. We must pay particular attention to how we start our day. There are those who pick up their phones first thing in the morning, browse through their WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram, some, it is the newspaper that they start their day with, they turn to sport page, others turn to the financial page. You can’t make either of the above your priority first thing in the morning and expect to have a fulfiled day.
Pastor but are you now saying I should not read newspapers or check social media in the morning? No…as a matter of fact all the above are things I do daily but they are not my priority first thing in the morning.
So Pastor what should be my first priority in the morning? Our first priority should be to seek God’s face in worship, show gratitude to God for waking you up, not everyone that slept last night woke up the following morning, you must thank God daily for keeping you, protecting and providing for you and your family. You must also read the word of God and pray first thing in the morning. God must be first in your life, part of offering God your first fruit is to start your day with Him. Say good morning to Him and commit your day into His hands. Remember that only those who seek Him will find him. The Psalmist says in Psalms 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
When you make God your priority in the morning before anything, He will direct your path, He will fill your heart with Joy. He will take away fear from your heart and keep you away from evil tidings that might arise on that day, He will also keep you in perfect peace. His joy will be your strength. The Devil is wise and ensures that children of God don’t commune with their Father first thing in the morning, so that he can bring all manner of distractions, the disappointments that many people face daily are avoidable if you start your day with God. I beseech you therefore by the mercies of God, that you make God your priority, commune with Him first thing in the morning.
Parents should please pray with their children and spouse each morning, also teach your children to pray and read the word of God first thing in the morning. My parents brought me up strictly this way, and it became easy for me to bring up my children same way.
I pray for you that the evil which moves around in the day will not reach you in the name of Jesus, the covenant of God in Psalm 91 will protect you and your family in Jesus name.
I love the way David said it in Psalms 143:8 “Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.” If you have not been doing this before or you were doing it before but have stopped, I want you to ask God to forgive you, go back to Him daily. I pray that the hedge of protection of God around you and your family will not be removed in Jesus name. As you make God your priority early in the morning, He will shower upon you dews of heaven in Jesus name.
Prayer point: O Lord, please help me seek and depend on you daily, in Jesus name.
