Devotional Reading: GENESIS 6:1-22
Many times, we complain that the world around us is so corrupt that it is near impossible to live holy at all times in this present world. But we overlook the power of grace in our lives capable of helping us to stand out and be holy. The expectation of God is that we must stand out and strive to be different, we must make a difference even if it means standing alone. The earth in which Noah lived was a cesspool of corruption populated by sinful men who forgot their Maker. It was an earth in which men did according to their sinful desires, indulging in corrupt practices and abomination. Yet Noah chose to be different, he stood out as a just and righteous man in his generation Genesis 6:9. You too can stand out like Noah and make a holy difference.
The earth was so sinful, God decided to destroy it and all its inhabitants with the first flood in human history. But Noah who humbled his heart to follow God, despite the corrupt influences of his environment finding “grace in the eyes of the Lord” (Genesis 6:8). While the Lord decreed judgement of the flood on the world, He perfected the plan of salvation and deliverance for Noah and his household. He also sealed it with a covenant. Noah responded to God’s command to prepare an ark with architectural specifications. He also passed the message to his family, which they promptly obeyed and were saved. Noah’s obedience also affected his possessions which survived in pairs. At the end of the day, Noah was not only saved, but was blessed with abundance and honour.
I understand that our world today is corrupt but in spite of all, God’s commandment is that we should live after His likeness, which is Holiness. God is Holy, He wants all his children to be Holy, without holiness, no man shall see the LORD, it is as strict as that – Hebrews 12:14. Some people complain that it is difficult to be holy in our time, but there is beauty in Holiness and it is possible to live Holy even in our world today, although, it comes at a price. God is not asking us to do the impossible. Anywhere you are, you must be conscious of the fact that you are a child of God and you cannot be seen doing other wise, the primary purpose of your existence, is to please and honour God with your life.
As a true child of God, you must be like your father. No matter the push or pull in the world, don’t compromise your faith, don’t play games with your eternity, don’t sell your soul to the devil. You must consciously decide not to be swayed by the fads and fancies of this modern age and end time generation. We must allow the grace of God to keep us righteous even in this corrupt and sinful world. It is possible to live holy and become righteous in this present world.
I want to encourage you today, please stand out like Daniel, Shadrach; Meshach and Abednego, don’t compromise your faith, let the world see something different in you; whether in school, the workplace, or church etc stand out, be a good model for others around you, say NO to sin and all other forms of iniquity and transgression, sin destroys destiny and sinks great glory. Strive to be the person that God wants you to be, let your light shine so bright that the world may see your good works and glorify your father which is in Heaven.
I pray for you today that God will grant you the grace to hold unto your faith even in the midst of corruption and evil of our time in Jesus name.
Prayer point: O LORD, please give me the grace to stand out for you in holiness and be different in all I do in Jesus name.
