Devotional Reading: Genesis 17:1 – 19
There are many Christians who claim to be God’s covenant people but are not enjoying the benefits of the covenant. God’s covenant only gets confirmed when a man begins to walk upright before God and striving to be blameless. From our Devotional Memorise today, God told Abram to walk before him and be blameless, only then he will enjoy the blessings of the covenant. This requirement is not just for Abraham, it us for every believer. For Abrahamic blessings to come upon you, just like with Abraham, you too must walk blameless before God. Noah was a righteous man and blameless among the people of his time and he walked with God. Genesis 7.
Enoch also walked with God, and he was no more because God took him away. Genesis.5:24 the deeper you are in God, the higher your greatness. Covenant blessings of God are not for strangers or unbelievers, but for true followers of Christ, those whose garments are pure and clean without spot or wrinkle. Your ability to follow and obey God in and out of season gives you unhindered access to His covenant blessings. Many Christians sing Abrahams blessings are mine, but they fail to live a life that qualifies them for those blessings. When it is time to work for God, they give excuses – “my work or business is keeping me busy so God understands” Well, man may understand but God doesn’t understand such excuses, He gave you the job or business on the platform of expectation that you will serve & honour Him even with your business and be closer to Him.
I have discovered that many people get closer to God when they are in great need, but as soon as God blesses them, the word “God understands” will be frequent in their mouth. They become distant to those things closer to the heart of God, even to go for evangelism becomes a problem.
David said “I will praise Him seven times a day” Psalms 119:164 regardless of your business or work, your relationship with God should not be traded for anything because without Him, you are nothing.
I will keep preaching about holiness and encourage believers to build stronger relationship with God, build an inner steel, passion and love for God, be loyal to Him, because that is the only way you can enjoy the benefits loaded in the covenant of Abraham. There are so many benefits in the covenant, but you can’t locate them, if you are not a recognised child of covenant. Jesus speaking in John 15:15 “I call you not servants but friends”
I pray that the LORD will preserve you and keep you to be one of his loyal children, in the name of Jesus. I also pray for you that you will develop a deeper & closer relationship to God
Prayer point: Father, please help me to be close to you and live a life that is blameless in Jesus name.
Key Dose: A blameless life is essential to fulfil purpose in life.
