THE COMPASIONATE SHEPHERD

Memorize : Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his saviour, wherewith shall it shall it salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Matthew: 5:13

Devotional Reading: Matthew 5:1-16

Believers are compared to salt on earth, we know that the value of salt in cooking cannot be overrated, it is absolutely essential if the sweet taste of the cooking will be felt. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Matthew: 5:13.

From this scripture, we learn that what has great value can suddenly become good for nothing. I mean, good for nothing! A man’s soul is worth more than all the treasures of the earth put together, yet by indulging in sexual sin, all that value is lost. That individual becomes good for nothing Proverbs. 6:26. If you appreciate the value Heaven places on you, you will do everything possible not to lose it. I pray you will retain your divine value in life in Jesus name.

Another lesson here is that, loss of worth equals loss of placement. Your heavenly placement rating is a function of heaven’s assessment of your worth. Each time you come up with a new idea for God’s kingdom, you increase your worth. How often do you increase your worth? When you lose your worth as salt of the earth, you will end up under the shoes of those you were supposed to rule and positively affect. But as long as you maintain your worth, and season, sweeten, preserved, sanitize and cleansed life, men will always look up to you. You will remain above them.

Another lesson here is that it takes earthly relevance to secure heavenly approval. You were created to positively affect the earth and be a solution . You were to positively impact lives. Some people are so ‘holy’ that they are of no earthly good. The call to holiness does not mean you should live like a hermit- secluded from everyone else as some Christians believe. God does not expect you to conform to the world’s way of doing things but to establish His standard through your life-style. Your value in Heaven will be determined by how many souls you won into God’s kingdom, the number of hopeless people the Lord used you to restore hope to, and how many sorrowful people you made to smile through your ministry. If your ministry cannot positively affect lives, it is of no value: it is good for nothing.

May the Lord help you and all of us be the salt of the earth, and retain that value so that our lives can make meaningful impact to generation’s in our world today. As you step out this new week, I pray that your life will positively impact people around you as you endeavour to be salt of the earth.

Prayer point: O LORD, release sweetness into my life as I endeavour to be salt of the earth to others in Jesus name.

Key Dose: God wants you to influence and impact lives positively as salt do to prepared foods, so, strive and be a positive influence, impacting lives as the salt of the earth.
