Memorize: Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. Proverbs 10:12
Devotional Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Yesterday; we looked at the marvelous grace of God, today, we are looking at the power of love. God’s love is a product of His marvelous grace. Love literally is defined as an intense feeling of affection and care towards one another. Also a deep or abiding liking for something. Love is universal, why? because God is Love, He dwells in love and that was why it was possible for Him to send his only begotten son Jesus Christ in exchange for our sins. What manner of love is that, which father can spear his child for another? Jesus himself is love, if he didn’t love us, he won’t accept to come and die for the sin he didn’t commit. He despise the shame, took our burden upon himself, took away our reproach, and delivered us from the consequences of sin which is death.
If you don’t have God in your life, you cannot understand love, If you don’t understand love, you won’t be able to express it, you cannot give what you don’t have.
Apostle Paul in 2 Cor.13:1-13 took enough time to explain to us, that even if I have all the riches and affluence in this world, or I can speak fire as in tongues but don’t have love, I am nothing.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
The practical way to express love is giving. Love is about giving – “for God so loved the world that He gave…”John 3:16. You can say you love and you see someone in need and pretend they don’t exist. Giving shows you love. So locate someone in need and express the love of the father to them. If God loved you and gave his son for you, then you ought to love too; SHOW IT! May the Lord give you the heart of love in Jesus name, Amen.
Prayer point: God of love, please plant your love in my heart today in Jesus name.
Key Dose: Remember that there is life in Love, when you show love, you have given life.
