Devotional Reading: John 1:1-18
There are times in life when we just have a hard and difficult time understanding “why.” We think about a friend we have who lost a child in a tragic accident, another young person died of incurable disease, a loving and caring mother died during child birth; and we ask WHY? Many kind and loving people have died due to COVID-19, we ask WHY?
We think about those who are sick, hungry and are experiencing war around the world with little hope for relief. Yet others whom we see as less innocent or are the source of many of those problems seem to prosper.
A recent peaceful protest in Nigeria by the youths tagged “End Sars” was peaceful, the youths were asking for good governance, end of police brutality, equity, justice and better life for all Nigerians, this was a just demand by these patriotic & well meaning Nigerian youth’s; instead of the government to appreciate the efforts of these youths, dialogue with them until an agreement is reached by both sides, some of these youths were shot at and killed by some soldiers with war guns containing live bullets, many of us asked “WHY”?
It’s in those times when many people wonder “why” that they can often feel disheartened or disillusioned with their faith. “If God is good,” they ask, “then why would He allow an innocent person to suffer like that?” Why will he leave our nation in suffering?
Some people will ask ‘Why me’ when they experience unpleasant situations.
This is a reasonable question provoked by very real emotions. And the truth is, there’s an answer – but it may not be the one many would like to hear. The world is fallen and we are at the end time. Because of that, there will be suffering until Christ returns.
Children will still die. People will go hungry. And often, others who seem less deserving will prosper. The world will be wrought with injustice until the Justifier returns to bring back order.
The world has not made the situations easy, God out of his great love sent his only son to die for us, instead of appreciating and accepting him, they rejected him; John 1:11; He came unto his own, and his own recieved him not. They chose Barabas a common criminal & murderer, and crucified Jesus the righteous one who had no sin in him.
So what can we do? Well, we persevere. We allow suffering and hardship to create a thirst in us for the day when all suffering will end.
We keep an eye on the sky waiting for Christ to usher in His Kingdom on earth. We hold on… because help is coming.
Rev 22:12; Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as to his work shall be.
May the Lord help you to accept the grace of salvation today and be justified on the day of reckoning, God will judge everyone according to our deeds here on earth, there is no one who have done evil or wickedness that will escape the judgement of God if they do not repent. God is reaching out to everyone today to come to repentance; please give your life to Christ today if you have not already done so before it is too late, may the LORD give us the grace to be wise in Jesus name.
Prayer point: My Father and my God, please deliver me from condemnation on the judgement day.
