Memorize : Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters; Ezekiel 16:52
Devotional Reading: Ezekiel 16:44-52
There is tendency that man may be partial and show preferential treatment in judgement. With man, we may find favouritism, hypocrisy and miscarriage of justice in favour of the rich, wealthy and influential, at the expense of the innocent mercies.
However, with God there is no such tendency or possibility for partiality or miscarriage of justice in judgment. God is always faithful and just, He is a righteous judge, He will judge every man according to their works. From the text, we can see that God’s people at this time, had given themselves over to iniquity and evil deeds, which was more in proportion to the iniquity of Sodom and Gomorah, also with Samaria. God is impartial and would not overlook the sin of the unrepentant, judgment came upon them. From here, we learn that to sin with impunity is dangerous.
No child of God should take God or His word for granted. If God did not spare sin in the sinner or sinful nations who failed to repent, He will not overlook sin in the believer or righteous nation who departs from righteousness and lives in iniquity and hardness of heart. Romans 11:21; For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. The right thing to do when sin comes in is to repent immediately and genuinely. God is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance and be saved”. It is dangerous to live in sin. Sin is a monster and destroyer of great destinies. Repent and live or refuse to repent and perish. It is even more damming to think that God will wink at sin. He never does! Instead, God will punish the unrepentant sinners.
Rev 22:12; And behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
God knows each one of us even when we are not aware that He does, John 1:47-49; Jesus saw Nathaniel coming to him, and saith of him, behold an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no guile! Nathaniel saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, i saw thee. Nathaniel answered Nathaniel saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the son of God, thou art the King of Israel.
My prayer for you is that you will allow God to mould you in holiness and righteousness, the voice of “depart from me” will not echo at you on the last day, rather, you will hear “welcome, thou faithful servant, enter into the joy of thy Lord”. Jesus is the righteous judge is coming soon, give your life to Christ if you have not done so, and repent from all your sins, Be ready!
Prayer point: Father, grant me the grace to live righteous before you in Jesus name.
Key Does: There is no mercy in judgement, live righteous and escape God’s wrath.
