THE WORKS OF GRACE

Memorize : For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2: 8″

Devotional Reading: Ephesians 2:1-8

The subject of grace is God’s expression of love, without it, our lives has no meaning. Grace is “unmerited favor” produced by “unconditional love of God ”

Grace is unmerited, it means getting something good instead of the bad thing you deserved. When you received grace you are given a precious gift. So how does God show grace to us? God shows grace to us through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. When He was on the cross, Jesus took all the punishment that we deserved and placed it on Himself. The just, for the unjust. On the cross, Jesus gave us the privilege of having a relationship with God, something that we cannot earn by ourselves nor do we deserve. God loves His children so much that He shows them unmerrited favour and unconditional love instead of punishment that we deserved for disobeying God.

The grace of God is the most beautiful and powerful thing we will ever encounter in life, but it is also the most difficult concept for us to wrap our minds around. Grace pushes back against our understanding of what is fair and what people deserve. But the message of grace is one that the entire world needs to hear and understand. Grace is love that seeks you out when you have nothing to give in return.

Grace is love coming at you that has nothing to do with you. Grace is being loved when you hate and are unlovable….Grace is God reaching downward to a people who are constantly pushing back against Him, who are in rebellion against Him. Scripture tells us that all have sin and come short of the glory of God, and that we deserve death Romans. 6:23. But in His loving-kindness and mercy, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us and take upon himself the punishment that we deserve. Romans 4:24-25 says that righteousness “will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.”

It was by grace that the Heavens earth were created, we are saved by grace, protected by grace, healed by grace, delivered from dangers by grace, received divine provisions by grace, enjoyed divine acceleration by grace, you slept last night and woke up this morning by grace.

Paul writes in Romans 5:8, “God commendeth ” shows” his love towards us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” The grace of God did not come at a time when we had everything together, all of our ducks lined up in a row. No, grace comes to us when we are broken, empty and can offer nothing in return. “Grace is most needed and best understood in the midst of sin, suffering, and brokenness.” We come to God with nothing in our hands to offer but our brokenness and sin, and He gladly takes it and gives to us new life and heavenly riches as His children.

I pray that the God of grace will not leave us in Jesus name.

Prayer point: Father, I cling to your grace, let it work for me in Jesus name.

Key Dose: Without the grace of God, there would be no forgiveness of sin, so cherish and embrace God’s Marvellous Grace, it is all you have.
