Memorize: But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire wanting nothing. James. 1:4
Devotional Reading: James 1:2-14
The christian race is full of battles and victories, one of the major keys to triumph is patience. No one can endure and triumph over trials, persecutions, afflictions, temptations and tribulations by his\her own power. The book of Zechariah 4:6; says it is not by power, not by might, but by my Spirit saith the LORD. The race of life cannot be won by human strength or might but by the help of the Holy Spirit. We must remember the ten virgins in Matthew 25:1-13. The fact they were virgins means they were holy, pure and from good homes. They were well groomed. They were the only ones shortlisted among many virgins in the land to meet the bridegroom. Out of the chosen 10, only five made it, one of the major reasons why they made it was Patience. They waited patiently for the bride groom, they were not careless or distracted, they did not allow their priority to be altered, they remained pure and holy for the bride groom, that is why holiness must be our watch word and our lifestyle.
Hebrews.12: 1; says we must run the race with patience. To be patient means, to be calm, unprovoked, uncompromising and be prepared to wait on God and wait for God.
Our memory verse in James 1: 4 says “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire wanting nothing.”
You must be prepared for those delays, halts and obstructions in this uncommon race, remember, we are pilgrims in this world. Sometimes, you are ready to go but God is not ready, then you have to wait. Even when you have your personal agenda or preferred timetable, it must be suspended, you must submit to God’s will and timetable for your life. At other times, God wants you to go at a most unusual moment but you are not ready, you have no choice but to go if you really want to succeed. I have experienced God this way many times. There are times that things were just not convenient for me at all but since God have commanded to go, I had to suspend all my agenda and move at His command.
This race demands enough patience and only the patient can make it to the end and triumph. People may provoke you, they may push you to the wall, it is part of the test of life in our Christian journey, your endurance and patience will be put to test, don’t fall for it, cling to Jesus; the author and finisher of our faith.
My prayer for you today is that God will give you His exceeding grace and increased strength to run your race with patience and finish well like Apostle Paul in Jesus name. In this race you can’t be too slow or too fast, you have to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and understand the high way codes of Heaven else it will be difficult to make it, avoid sin’s that easily beset.
Are you running your Christian race patience? Are you too slow or too fast? Are you becoming impatient regarding certain matters? Ask God to help you. I pray for you today once more, that in this race of life, you will not fail or fall by the wayside in Jesus name. The will of God is for you to make it here on earth and to make Heaven at the end, that will be your portion and mine in the name of Jesus.
May the LORD help and guide you into making right and Godly choices in Jesus name.
Prayer point: Heavenly father, please help me to triumph with patience so that I will not lose my crown at last in Jesus name.
Key Dose: He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
