Memorize: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 6:12
Devotional Reading: Hebrews 11:1-11
John H. Sammis wrote this popular hymn “Trust and Obey” the lines of this song has blessed a lot of believers around the world. Many have learnt to hold on to the promises of God, some have learnt to trust God for everything in their lives. Myself, this hymn has helped me to believe God the more even if it appears everything is coming down.
Yesterday I told us that God’s promises are powerful but it can become powerless if the recipient does not trust God enough to take necessary action. I don’t know what your situation is, but i can tell you from experience that Gods promises never fail.
Sometimes when we are waiting for the promises of God and they seem not coming on time, doubt will begin to set in. Its normal but Heb 6:12b says “…but be followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Two words were outlined that brought the fulfilment of God’s promises to the patriarch of old “Faith and Patience” No man can receive anything from God without faith and virtue of Patience, these two must be incoporated in the process of waiting. Many believers today are so much in a hurry to obtain their promises, there by they miss their right place and right timing. You remember Gehazi in 2 Kings 5:1-22 who through impatience and covetousness took over the leprosy of Naaman. I pray you won’t miss your right place and time in Jesus name.
Therefore, walking is Gods promises requires patience. Once God has promised, He will surely do it. God does not fail, His ways are past finding out. Check all the history in the bible there is no account that pointed to the fact that God failed, No, Never. Abraham was a man who through patience obtained the promises, he held on to Gods promises and the promises came to pass.
The same way I will like you to hold on to those promises of God for you through patience. Don’t give up. Dont think God has forgotten or abandoned you – No. I pray again for you that the patience you required to wait for the fulfillment of God’s promises may it be released upon you now in Jesus name Amen.
Prayer point: My father and my God, please give me faith and patience to wait for your promises in Jesus name.
Key Dose: It takes Faith and patience to win the race of life.
