MEMORIZE: I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. Habakkuk 2:1
DEVOTIONAL READING: Hab. 2:1-4
Prayer is a subject that every believer must understand. It is beyond just praying. Prayer is not just reporting your case to God, it is communicating with Him. Every genuine discussion or dialogue is made up of infomation or presentation, then reply or response from the parties involved. It should be a two-way communication flow. But most people do all the talking while praying, they would not give God the chance to speak to them in return, neither would they pause to listen to what He has to say. God speaks, many people don’t hear because they were not listening.
It is time we begin to engage in responsive mediational prayers, where you talk and wait for God to speak back to you, where you make enquiries and take time to recieve reply to those enquiries. Part of the content of your prayers should be to ask God to give you strategies to deal with the issues confronting you. If you wish to prevail in prayer; then you need to be at alert in the spirit, listen carefully to the voice of the Holy Spirit, meditate and keep your heart open to receive God’s instruction. You also have to engage in intense worship, in order to gain unhindered access to the throne room of God.
When you ask a question and there doesn’t seem to be an immediate answer; you should start to worship and call God by His names. Then you ask again, “Lord, what are you saying concerning this matter?” If you are patient, you will surely get an answer, He assures us in His word which says: “call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” Jeremiah. 33:3
There is a promise of God in that scripture that when we call unto Him, He will answer, if you have been calling on God and He has not answered, then check your life, sin or transgression may be the hindrance.
From today, whenever, you speak to God, be careful to listen to Him on the content of your request, He will surely answer, although it may be at his time. Don’t be in a hurry when you are having communication with God.
An ATM machine can be a good example; Is it possible for someone to get to an ATM Machine and insert his card for withdrawal, and be so much in a hurry to leave while the machine is still processing…? Of course Not; you want to wait for as long as it takes for the machine to process your transaction and give you the money you requested. Same principles should apply in prayer, don’t always be in hurry to go out of His presence without hearing from him, be patient, God answers prayer.
I pray that the Holy Spirit will teach you how to pray, and impact on you patience to wait on God untill you receive answers to your prayers in Jesus name.
Prayer point: Holy Spirit; please teach me how to pray and help me be patient until i receive answers to all my prayers in Jesus name.
Key Dose: Prayer is the key to the treasures in Heaven and on Earth. Jesus started with prayer and ended with prayer.
