WHEN ANXIETY IS A SIN

Memorize:“ Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer & supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

Devotional Reading: Matthew 6:25 – 34

From generation to generation, we have found that Satan uses the weapon of fear against believers and entire human race which can lead to worry and anxiety. Many people have become ill due to excessive anxiety, some have aggravated the situation which has led to sicknesses, frequent panic attacks, high blood pressure and even depression. A lady received doctor’s report that she has cancer, a report that was inconclusive and requires further tests & diagnosis, due to continuous & excessive panic and anxiety, the lady developed heart problem which was never there before, she was narrowly saved from heart complications which was a result of excessive anxiety, the doctor’s report was later found to be false.

It is normal in life that most people will experience anxiety due to one thing or another, however, anxiety becomes a sin when you allow it drive faith in God out of you, anxiety becomes a sin when you allow it overshadow your life uncontrollably, anxiety becomes a sin when you allow it to suppress the word of God in you, anxiety becomes a sin when you allow it make you doubt God, instead of believing and trusting in God, you doubt Him and seek help from man, thereby replacing God with man in your life. Anxiety becomes a sin when you allow it drive you to consider and seek help from demonic evil alters, an example was king Saul who sought help from the wizard of endor, anxiety becomes a sin when you allow it suggest to you that God cannot do it, anxiety becomes a sin, when you can no longer trust God and wait on Him.

Many people have aggravated their situations and made things needlessly become worse due to anxiety, some have died avoidable deaths. Jesus asked in Matthew 6:27; which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? Jesus was saying in that portion of scripture that which of us can improve our situations and make it better by being anxious? There is none. Anxiety is not a solution, it is an added problem that can lead to more complications.

What you need is Faith, not fear. Anxiety is a product of fear. While Faith is commitment to believe & trust God in the midst of fear and anxiety.

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. Hebrews 4:2.

The same power of God that exists during the time of the patriarchs & prophets of old, is the same power of God that exist today, what makes the difference between those that it worked for and those who did not receive their miracles was that, some allowed the word of God to mix with Faith in them while others did not allow the word to mix with faith in them.

Several times Jesus used the phrase, “O ye of little faith” to describe people who were anxious about the future: their physical needs (Matthew 6:30), their physical safety (Matthew 8:26), their inability to find a solution to a problem Matthew 14:31, for some people, they become anxious due to their lack of resources for ministry Matthew 16:8.

The current global pandemic have made many people to suffer from intense anxiety; some men and women of God have become anxious about keeping up with church and personal bills, Jesus linked their worry to lack of faith, real faith in God does not allow anxiety to thrive, because there is nothing impossible with God.

The writer to the Hebrews says that “without faith it is impossible to please God” Hebrews 11:6, and Paul wrote that whatever is not from faith is sin Romans 14:23. Anxiety is not from faith, so an anxious lifestyle is certainly not pleasing to God. There is no need to be anxious; God is more than that problem, He is more than able to do it if you believe and wait on Him.

If you are anxious about your present situation or future challenges, confess it to God, put your faith in Him, he will make a way for you in Jesus name. Philippians 4:6-7.

Prayer point: O LORD, My father and my God, please remove anxiety from me, give me Faith that endure and stand the test of time in Jesus name.

Key Dose: Cast away doubt and unbelief to receive from God.
