Devotional Reading: Gen.1:27-29
From our devotional reading today in Gen. 1:27-29. We saw how God made us. Sometimes it beat my imagination that the almighty God will design people that will resemble Him after his likeness, it is so amazing. The bible gave us a clear description that He made us in His own image. This Invariably means you and I are complementary image and likeness of God, we are created to be different. I am sure everyone do stand In front of the mirror every day or occasionally to look at your face, that is perfect mirror of what you are and what you look like. You are not common, there is something very unique and special about you, no one else has the same quality except you, look for that rare gift in you and use it.
The bible says in Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them”. The term “them” in the verse gave my thought the answer and that humbles me. I said to myself, God you are great and un-imaginable.
God created you and i to think, speak, act, and be like Him. God is a productive thinker. Gen.1:26 says “Let us (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) make “mankind” in our image, after our likeness…” that was a thought. God thought carefully before He spoke and actions it, all the abilities of man, i.e. thinking, speaking, acting and existence all came within a second, but from a seed of thought. We can learn a lesson from that, which is, in everything we planned to do let’s be like God who is our father, only a bastard behaves differently from his good father. Our words and actions must be like God, God is our Father, He created us just like Him. Everything He has ability to do, we also have the same.
When man fell because of sin in the Garden of Eden, the image of God in man became polluted, and polarised, man lost fellowship with God. Man could no longer think, speak, act, and be like God anymore, there was a disconnect, It was so serious that the bible says God regretted that He created Human being, when sin degenerates and was spread all over.
But because God still love mankind and want to retain that image in man, the Father sent Jesus Christ His ONLY son to die for mankind and redeem us from our fallen state so that we can think, speak, act, and be like God again, thereby restoring us back to our original state at creation. Now that we are restored let us abstain from sin, and all forms of iniquity so that on the last day we will receive a crown of righteousness.
May the Lord help you to abstain from sin so that you can maintain the image of God in you and make heaven at the end of your life.
Prayer: Father, please help me to retain your image and likeness IJN.
Key Dose: The power, authority and dominion of a man/woman is conditional on having God’s image in you.
