Devotional Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:1-11
Each one of us is a product of God’s creation, in His image and likeness we were all created, we carry power, authority and dominion because the breath of God is in us. Our devotional reading in Genesis. 1:27-29. We saw how God made us confirmed this. Sometimes it beat my imagination that the almighty God will design people in His image, after his likeness, it is so amazing.This Invariably means you and I are complimentary image of God. We are created distinctly to be different. I am sure everyone do stand In front of the mirror every day or occasionally to look at themselves, what we see in the mirror, is the perfect image and likeness of God. You are not common, there is something very unique and special about you, look for that rare gift in you and use it.
The bible says in Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them”. The term “them” in the verse gave me thoughts about how unique everyone is, yet in the likeness of God, and all these were done by Him, it humbles me. I said to myself, God you are great and un-imaginable.
God created you and i to think, speak, act, and be like Him. God is a productive thinker. Genesis.1:26 says “Let us (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) make “mankind” in our image, after our likeness…” that was a thought. God thought carefully before He spoke and actions it, all the abilities of man, i.e. thinking, speaking, acting and existence all came within a second, but from a seed of thought. We can learn a lesson from that, which is, in everything we planned to do let’s be like God who is our father, we are not bastards, so we should not behave differently from our good heavenly father. Our words and actions must be like God, God is our Father, He created us just like Him. Everything He has ability to do, we also have the same.
When man fell because of sin in the Garden of Eden, the image of God in man became polluted, and polarised, man lost fellowship with God. Man could no longer think, speak, act, and be like God anymore, there was a disconnect, It was so serious that the bible says God regret that He created human beings, because sin degenerated, spreading all over at the time, we live even in worse time now.
But because God still love mankind and want to retain that image in man, the Father sent Jesus Christ His ONLY son to die for mankind and redeem us from our fallen state so that we can think, speak, act, and be like God again, thereby restoring us back to our original state at creation. Now that we are restored let us abstain from sin, and all forms of iniquity so that on the last day we will receive a crown of glory and of righteousness.
May the Lord help you to abstain from sin so that you can maintain the image of God in you and make heaven at the end of your life in Jesus name.
Prayer point: Father, please help me retain your image and likeness and walk in dominion in Jesus name.
Key Dose: The power, authority and dominion of a man/woman is conditional on having God’s image in you.
