WHAT IS FAITH?

Memorize: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen, for by it the elders obtained good report. Heb. 11:1-2

Devotional Reading: Heb.11-1-12

The subject of faith is a subject that we will continue to hear and read about, because it is through faith you can please God. Faith is the connector between man and God, for without it no man can please God. Now what is faith? Faith is a firm conviction and expectation that God will fulfill all that he has promised to us in Christ. Faith is an expression of confidence in God. It is also a translating and handlable force. Faith is obeying God, it is victory, it is believing and behaving His word. Faith is reasoning with God, seeing it the way God sees it. Faith is a power point and a weapon of war. Also the evidence of things not seen. Faith demonstrate to the mind the reality of those things that cannot be discerned by the physical sight. It is intended to serve the believer in the place of sight, and to be to the soul all that the senses are to the body. It was by faith that the elders obtained a good report. Faith brings honour. The elders were honoured for the things they did that were of good report.

Abraham was honoured with a trophy in the Hall of faith as the father of faith. The exercise of Abraham’s faith is so wonderful. He went out not knowing where he went. He put himself in the hand of God, to send him wherever he pleases. Imagine a man leaving his family and going to a strange land without knowing where he is going, no map, no compass just be going, that is faith. Also Noah, he received a warning from God of things not yet seen. The activities of Noah’s faith and the influence it had both on his mind and on his practice. “he was moved with fear”. Faith is an influencer. When it influences our affections, then our affections, and faith works on those affections that are suitable to the matter that is revealed.

Faith has rewards when expressed. Sarah kept her faith even though she didn’t believe in the first place but bible says “she received strength to conceive” and delivered of a child, a child of promise all by faith. In Heb. 11:1-40 Bible says “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephther; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

Faith is a powerful force, real and practical, it can make the unseen world to become seen. I pray that the LORD will give you faith that will transform and make the unseen glories in your life to become seen in Jesus name.

Prayer point: O LORD, increase my faith in Jesus name.

Key Dose: If by the power of faith, the world was created, what then can faith not create?
